Trustux is free and open source, released under the Apache License, Version 2.0.

What this means

The Apache 2.0 license is permissive. You may:

  • Use Trustux for any purpose, including commercial use.
  • Modify the source and create derivative works.
  • Distribute the original or your modified versions.
  • Sublicense and incorporate it into larger works.

In return, the license asks that you:

  • Include the license and any NOTICE file with copies you distribute.
  • State significant changes you make to the files.
  • Retain existing copyright, patent, trademark and attribution notices.

The license also includes an explicit patent grant from contributors, and provides the software “as is”, without warranties or conditions of any kind. The trademark section does not grant rights to the Trustux name or marks beyond customary use in describing the software’s origin.
